Reason for choosing our hotel: We wanted accommodations near Mt. Aso, and when we came across this observatory, we were really excited about the idea of stargazing with knowledgeable Astronomy experts.

Impressions of natural surroundings & guest room: Rustic, pretty, and well maintained

Impressions of the Stargazing Tour: Very enjoyable, informative, and interesting, even with the cloudy sky. We were impressed by the knowledge of the staff, the presentation of stars in the planetarium, and the beautiful pictures of astral objects.

Other comments or requests: We are excited to potentially come back if we are in the area of Mt. Aso again to see it on a clear night. My only concern was the difficulty in locating the observatory by driving at night, as my GPS indicated for me to enter a private driveway, rather than the main entrance.
